To become a volunteer firefighter, please complete our Department Application and forward it to the following address:
Applicants are subject to reference and background checks and an interview process after receipt of the application.
Once there is a vacancy, the applicant at the top of the waiting list shall become a probationary member of the Department,
subject to review and evaluation at the 6 month and year end probationary period. If the applicant then passes probation,
he/she shall become a permanent member of the Department.
During the applicants probationary period they are required to attend and complete Basic Firefighting Classes provided through Madison Area Technical College
at no cost to the applicant. This is a 60-80 hour commitment. Additionally, the Department trains the second Monday of each month and holds a business
meeting the last Monday of each month. Both of these meetings are mandatory.
Applicants must live within the Village of Belleville or it's adjoining land parcels or if living outside of the Village must
live within 5 miles of the Fire station located at 33 E Main Street, Belleville, WI. Department By-Laws provide that no more
than five (5) Firefighters of the 35 person roster can reside outside of the Village at any one time.
You are welcome to stop by the Fire Station. There is usually a group of Firefighters and Officers at the station on Monday nights from 7:00-8:00 PM.
If you would like to take a tour of the facility, we can also show you around during that time.
